Chintamani Vinayak - Pune

Chintamani Vinayak Temple is located at Theur (Theyoor), 22km away from Pune city, Maharastra. During the tour of Asthavinayak Darshan, Chintamani Vinayak Temple is the 5th Ganesha Temple.

Lord Ganesha in the form of Chintamani Vinayak drives away all perplexities of the mind and gives the peace of mind.

It is said that Brahma-the creator once felt tharva that is highly strung then Lord Ganesha was called upon to ease Brahma’s mind. Here at this place Lord Ganesha removed all worries of Lord Brahma therefore this place became famed as “Chintamani Vinayak” The place where Brahma achieved the tranquility, for which he was looking, is known as the “Sthavar” district or also as Theur.

Chintamani Vinayak temple was established during the rule of Peshwas by Dharanidhar Maharaj Dev. The temple has a vast 5 Metal Bell which was bought by Peshwas from Europe. The main doorway of the temple has been made from wood. A small fountain made from black stone, increasing the look in the hall. The image of Chintamani Vinayak is self originated means “Swayambhu” and the trunk of the idol is turned to left side.

A small separate section is facilitated to devotees for meditation. During the festival of Vinayaka Chaturthi, devotees are found here in huge crowd.
