Palitana Jain Temple

Palitana Jain Temples are the most beautiful shrines adorned with the beautiful carvings in all over the world. Palitana is located approximately 51 km distance from Bhavnagar, in the Indian State of Gujarat. Palitana is most important pilgrimage for Jainism in Gujarat but other followers also prefer to visit this place.

The main attraction is Shatrunjay Hill which is 3 km away from railways station. It located nearby the place hosts about 900 small and big Jain Temples which are devoted to 24 Jain Tirthankarars. It is believed that an epic importance is related with this temple from Mahabharata. The sons of Kunti and King Pandu means Pandavas- Yudhishthir, Bheem & Arjun got paradise at this place. That’s why it is famous as “Siddhakshetra”, where one gets Moksha amongst Jain followers.

In Palitana, the other remarkable temples are Sampriti Raj, Adinath, Bimal Shah, Kumarpal. According to the Jain pilgrims, Adishwar temple-the first Jain Tirthankar is the holiest place among the cluster. It is the most elaborate carvings and beautifully shaped. The idol of the deity is made from marble and adorned with old ornaments and precious jewelry. The old largest temple of Adinath-the first Tirthankara was built in 1618.

Architecture and sculpture of these temples are very unique. In the sunlight the adorned temples seem like ivory illumination and look like to be wedding cake
