Kailash Temple - Aurangabad

The Kailash Temple is located near the small village of Ellora approximately 30-kms far from Aurangabad, Maharastra, India. This temple is also famous as Kailasanatha Temple and has become an attractive famed place for its amazing and monumental architecture.

The Kailash Temple is the largest monasteries out of 34 monasteries at Ellora, which acquired almost a century. The carvings of rock and monolithic structure are outstanding that you may have never seen. The rock-cut architecture proves its unrivaled and gives the example of Indian Carvings and sculpture. It is designed so beautifully that it recalls the shrine “Mount Kailash” - abode pf lord Shiva. It was built in the 8th century by Rashtrakuta king Krishna.

Kailash Temple has number of images of not only deities but also the images of animals, other mythical creatures. The all the images are in a manner that leaves one in ecstatic delight and from Puranas. The whole panels were engraved showing scenes from the both Ramayana and Mahabharata.
