Mahakala Temple - Ujjain

The Mahakala Temple, Ujjain is located within reach of lake. This temple has a majestic tower rising very high into the skies. It credits of remarkable outside standing with proud against the skyline of the city.

There are 12 Jyotirlingas which are found in India and from those 12 Jyotirlingas, one-the lingam is located at the temple of Mahakala in Ujjain. This lingam which drawing an origin of power-Shakti, is emerged self (swayambhu).

The Mahakala Temple is also known as “Mahakaleshwar” and main deity of the temple is “dakshinamurti” Which is oriented towards the south. The very sacred statue of God Shiva is worshipped with faith in the sanctum. The other idols also placed there like Goddess Parvati, God Ganesha, God Kartikeya and a small image of Nandi (Bull).

The Mahakala Temple, Ujjain is a very attractive place therefore numbers of pilgrims visit this place every year.
