Narmada Udgam Temple - Amarkantak

Narmada Udgam temple, Amarkantak, is considered as one of the great in ancient temples with full of boast of the Indian traditional values. This temple is also called as “Narmadeshwar temple” and dedicated to “Narmada Devi”.

Narmdeshwar temple is said to be the most important temple in Amarkantak as Narmada Udgam is an open ‘kund‘ at the source of Narmada river in Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh, India.

Mythology says that river Narmada takes its main source from God Shiva and descended from heaven at the place of Naramda Udgam. So devotees prefer to visit this place specially to perform the prayers and rituals.

Approximately, there are twenty temples around this “open Narmada Kund’.

The most and another attraction for devotees and visitors in Amarkantak is “Evening Aarti”. People prefer to attend the evening Aarti at regularly. This place is said to be the most delightful place which is the main source of Rivar Narmada and one should roam here at least one time.
